UEFA Nations League

Scotland 2 Albania 0

Scotland 2 Albania 0

Scotland begin their UEFA Nations League campaign with a victory at Hampden.

Alex McLeish got off to the perfect start in the UEFA Nations League as they overcame Albania with a 2-0 victory.

A match which seen the return of Steven Naismith to the starting XI and a first full debut to John Souttar.

The match started brightly as the home team played strong, postivie football from the first whistle. The work of Andy Robertson and O'Donnell helped stretch Albania, allowing Scotland to break into the final third and despite the match ending 0-0 at half-time, Scotland should have been in front.

The second half would entail the same positivity from the first. Scotland continually battling to make the breakthrough but cautious of Albania's quick players on the counter.

Finally the fist goal came after good work on the left by Tierney and Armstrong. Robertson collected the ball and swung in a inch perfect cross to the returning Naismith who's header towards goal took a defletion off his marker and past the Albania's number one.

Scotland had the wind in their sails and continued to march forward to ensure the victory. Missed chances from Callum McGregor went by but the men in navy blue confirmed the 3 points would be awarded to Scotland.  A corner kick fom the left was missed by everyone apart from Naismith at the back post who simply headed his effort into an empty goal.
