Betfred Cup Final 2018

Celtic 1 Aberdeen 0

Celtic 1 Aberdeen 0

Celtic collected the first trophy of the season after beating Aberdeen 1-0 in the Betfred Cup Final, at the National Stadium.

What was a tight contest throughout the 90 minutes, the sides fed off the positive energy and hope off both set of fans. Chances were few and far between.
Tom Rogic clipped an Aberdeen post with a 20-yard effort. James Forrest threatened on a couple of occasions until deep into injury time of the first half, Ryan Christie's strike rocketed to the roof of the net, putting the Glasgow side 1-0 up before the break.

In an open second half, Aberdeen did not give up on potential glory. Celtic won a penalty on the 52nd minute but Scott Sinclair's spot-kick was brilliantly saved by Joe Lewis. Despite pressing Celtic back, and obtaining more of the ball, the Dons created very little clear-cut chances. Scott McKenna would see his glancing header sail wide as Celtic held on; playing the game to a close to win their third League Cup final in three years.
